Licence Verification Terms

Last updated August 29, 2026

These terms apply when a GraphicByte product uses a licence key or talks to our licence server. Graphics-only downloads that never activate still follow the Software Licence Agreement.

How activation works

After payment you receive a licence key in your account or email. You enter it in the product (or it is embedded for a single install). The software periodically contacts GraphicByte’s licence server to confirm the key is valid for that product, domain or install ID, and that it has not expired or been revoked.

Data collected during licence checks

A check may send:

  • Licence key and product identifier
  • Install or site identifier (for example a hashed domain or server ID)
  • IP address of the server making the request
  • Product version and a coarse environment flag (production/staging)
  • Timestamp of the last successful check

We use this to enforce the licence, prevent sharing, and diagnose support issues. We do not sell this data. See the Privacy Policy.

If a licence expires

When an update or support term ends, the software you already installed may keep running, but new updates stop. If a product page sells a time-limited licence, access may enter a grace period and then disable paid features until you renew. The product page states which model applies.

Fair-use limits

Each key may activate the number of production sites in your licence. Rapid re-activation on many unrelated hosts, or unusually frequent check-ins, may be treated as sharing. We may temporarily lock a key and ask you to contact support. Reasonable staging plus one production install is allowed where the product is sold with a single activation.

Transfers

You may request a domain or owner transfer by emailing support@graphicbyte.co.uk from the purchase email. We typically allow a small number of transfers (for example when you rebrand a community). We may refuse transfers that look like resale or key sharing. After a transfer, the old install must be decommissioned.
