About this tool

Server lists render MOTD with section-sign codes. This preview understands § and & colours plus bold, italic, underline, strike and reset.

It does not ping a real server. Paste your MOTD string, check contrast, then copy it into server.properties or your host panel.

How to use it

  1. Paste your MOTD, using § or & colour codes.
  2. Check the server-list preview.
  3. Copy the string into your Minecraft host when it looks right.

FAQs

Do I use § or &?

Both work here. Many panels use & because it is easier to type. The game itself uses §.

Does this ping my server?

No. It only colours the text in your browser.

Why is obfuscated text blocks?

§k is shown as blocks in this preview so you can see where the scramble sits, without a full Minecraft font.
